Prof Prema Shekhara writes in Vijayavani paper, three key things from our history, which we hardly read about..
1) India's Hindu Shahi royal family managed to keep Muslim invasions at bay for 300 years since Mohammed bin Qasim's Sindh attack in 711-12. Nowhere else in the world, the initial Muslim invasions were stopped for 3 centuries! Our history books hardly tell us about Shahi kings.
2) They also do not tell us that the Rashtrakuta empire from Karnataka, was so powerful and big, that it went all the way to Sindh in today's Pakistan, and defeated the remaining Arabs, and extracted monetary tribute from them.
3) Lalitaditya was a Kashmiri King born in 699 CE. He defeated the Arab invaders. He also defeated Tibetan and Chinese invasions too. In his entire life, he NEVER lost a single battle! We read about Alexander who didn't lose any major battle, but not about Lalitaditya who not only defended India against the first wave of Arab Muslim attacks, but also from Chinese attacks from the east. He left his throne at age 60 and went to Himalayas.
