Happy Ganesha Chaturthi to you

Me and my NaaNi anna got together to perform Ganesha Chaturthi together again this year.
My Doddappa ( Naani anna's father) late Srikanta Shastry has made a casette tape on Ganesha Chaturthi- VrutacharaNe which we still use. I feel as though he is still alive and with us when we listen to his tape while performing pooje. Its about 90 min of detailed Vruta. If we add Veda mantras to the vruta ritual it would be 3 hrs of pooje in total. This is how Ganapathi pooje is introduced to me by my elders right from my childhood. Needless to say there is no breakfast prepared at home during festival day, We finish the pooje and go for direct lunch after the pooje and Naivedya to Vignavinashaka Ganapathi. At night, we do read the story , perform pooja and mangalarathi. About 40-50 of invited friends and family members assemble at night . Friends and family coming together on account of Ganesha chaturthi is something I enjoyed from my childhood and the same tradition thrives even here in USA. If we do not keep the tradition alive , our children wil have no clue about these festivals going forward hence its very important to show it to our children.
